Board urges Central Electric Co-op to address poles and guy wires that constrain Oak Street sidewalk

During the Adams Avenue presentation, staff and the consultant flagged two power poles and associated guy-wire anchors that sit in or very near the proposed Oak Street sidewalk alignment. Paul explained that CEC said the poles must remain in line with existing lines unless the city pays for self-supporting poles with large footings. "They basically told us...that would be at our cost," Paul said, and the consultant said the current condition preserves an existing 4-foot accessible route but acknowledged the solution is unsatisfying.
Board members expressed safety concerns about the guy wires, especially for evening events and strollers, and suggested mitigation such as reflective tape or pushing CEC harder to relocate anchors toward the alley or furnishing zone. Staff committed to continued coordination and to report back with options.
