Mark Dickens, a local resident, used the public-comment period to criticize recent projects in Sisters and urge the advisory board to increase oversight of ongoing work. "This project, the 1st phase is over 1000000 dollars of taxpayer money, and I find that just disturbing," Dickens said, faulting the hub's layout for leaving walkways exposed to snow and ice and for locating the restroom building far from dedicated handicap parking. He called several design choices "very dangerous, very poorly laid out."
Dickens also invoked past controversy around the 'Space Age' gas station proposal, saying the traffic study for that project was "completely fraudulent" and that the planning commission rejected the application 7–0. He offered to walk board members through the site to show the flaws he photographed and asked that the advisory board be "very active in monitoring these projects" before the town spends additional millions on future phases.
