Board praises SROs for relationship-building, classroom outreach

Officer James Wolfer, who the principal identified as the high-school SRO, told the board "this is my 4th year as your SRO" and described classroom demonstrations (including a past DUI body-cam exercise) and visits to elementary schools to read and build trust. Officer Newman, in his second year, said the role is a "new challenge" and emphasized relationship-building: "we can be a resource to kids" beyond enforcement.
Board members and administrators thanked the officers and their supervisors, noting the district is following a national SRO model emphasizing connections, instruction and informal counseling in addition to safety responsibilities.
