The council reviewed several invoices from Johnson County Secondary Roads for road construction, annexation-related work and associated reimbursements. Staff walked members through aggregated amounts, noting a net cost to the city of roughly $141,000 after credits and previously withheld retainage.
"I come with the net cost to the town about a $141,000," a council member asked; staff and the presenter clarified how the $30,027.58 engineering-credit and prior withholdings affected total payables. Councilors discussed whether earlier withholdings (retainage) had been approved by prior councils and how those actions factored into the current payments.
After discussion, the council approved payment for the invoices under consideration and approved submitting an invoice to Johnson County seeking reimbursement (one such submission was for $204,475.11). The council also addressed a separate $121,056.54 invoice tied to Deegan/Sheely annexation and amended its motion to make that payment contingent on approval of the related annexation items.
