The Swisher City Council voted to amend its engineering contract with HR Green, applying a $30,027.58 credit to the total contract amount for the sanitary sewer and lift station project. A staff presenter explained the credit covers engineering fees the county declined to reimburse for inspector time spent in 2019–2020.
"We decided to just go ahead and reimburse like for the engineering fees that they weren't willing to account and reimburse to you," the staff member said, describing the intent to "make you guys whole" by reducing the contract total by $30,027.58. Councilors then moved and approved Resolution 75-20-24 by roll call.
The amendment was framed as a cleanup measure after discussion with county officials and a council decision not to pursue litigation over the reimbursement dispute. Council members said the adjustment should simplify the project's accounting and allow construction and subsequent invoices to proceed on a clarified financial basis.
