Committee member Vern Fridley proposed holding an Arbor Day celebration during the week of April 27th and suggested organizing an elementary school assembly; Ryan Johnson, who regularly participates in Arbor Day events, volunteered to help and said planting demonstrations engage children.
Callie Bassett, City Recorder, said the March–April city newsletter could include winter tree-care advice and asked for copy by the Feb. 17 deadline. She also noted the Feb. 12 City Council meeting as an opportunity to seek a formal Arbor Day declaration from the council. The committee discussed planting at Meeks Pond as part of Arbor Day efforts if the council approves the community garden or related site access.
