Board approves small employee payout transfers for highway and refuse lines

The board moved $10,027 from contingency to line item 10130‑51520 (highway maintenance) and approved a separate transfer of $14,220 to line item 10130‑51530 (refuse collection). Director of Public Works Gary Schneider presented both requests. Board member Rob told the meeting that the town has used contingency historically to cover retirement and payout events so departments can keep lean operating budgets; "what it does, this can kind of punish a good budgeter," he said.
Both votes passed on voice votes. The appropriations will be forwarded to the Representative Town Meeting for final authorization where required.
