Superintendent Mark Daniel introduced Carrie Wordinger as the new principal at Whitney Young STEAM Early Childhood. Daniel said Wordinger brings more than 20 years of experience in elementary education, early learning and school leadership, including service as principal at Westview Elementary in Mississinewa Community Schools and preschool director and district administrator roles in Marion Community Schools. Daniel said the district looks forward to Wordinger joining Fort Wayne Community Schools.
Separately, the board reviewed the proposed 2027 calendar of board meetings—typically the second and fourth Monday evenings at 6 p.m. in the boardroom at the Grama Administrative Building—and approved the schedule. The board also discussed the idea of occasionally holding meetings at school sites, noting that the Aug. 10 dedication and meeting at Snyder will be a test of a public‑facing meeting outside the central office.
