Public commenters urge Judicial Council to create internal review board; other caller raises personal grievance

During the public‑comment period the council heard two substantive appeals: one asking the Judicial Council to create an impartial internal review board for court employees, and a second recounting a personal set of complaints and requesting the council’s help.
Gayathri Gunasikaran told the council there is currently no internal process for wronged court employees to obtain timely redress. "Court employees should not have to sue or file with the Overburdened Labor Commission in order to have their proverbial day in court," she said, and asked that the Judicial Council create a review board to provide impartial internal hearings for employees who face censure or termination. She referenced prior correspondence with Mr. Navarette and the Chief Justice as part of explaining why an internal remedy would address gaps in accountability.
In person, Kai On described a series of unresolved complaints he said he filed with the State Bar and Commission on Judicial Performance. "I received fake default defendant information from Sacramento DA office for my father... I was here in September 2024. As of today, I still don't know who killed my father," he said, identifying a case number he said is affected (99FCOX735) and asking the council to review attached documents.
Council staff thanked both speakers and confirmed their written materials would be distributed to the appropriate staff offices. The council did not take formal action on the public comments during the meeting.
