Commissioners question JDA and Red River Regional Council spending priorities amid tight budget

Business owner and meeting participant (S5) said that while operational staffing matters, county leaders should focus on whether taxpayer dollars produce measurable returns for small businesses. ‘‘I just wanna see taxpayer dollars going towards our businesses and not so much towards operational expenses,’’ the participant said. Commissioners requested that JDA representatives or staff provide a breakdown of operating versus direct assistance dollars at a future meeting before any cuts are finalized.
