Staff presented the recommendations packet the board will forward to city council and noted the only addition since the prior meeting is a proposal to prohibit specific bamboo species (code reference added: section 94-69). The board agreed to include the bamboo prohibition in the packet but directed staff to research whether legally planted bamboo already on private property could be maintained (i.e., whether landscaping can be grandfathered) before council consideration.
Staff said the city currently follows state recommendations on invasive plants and the new item would supplement that list. The board approved adding the bamboo language to the recommendations to be provided to council.
