The Park Rapids City Council approved a plan to designate permanent routes for all‑terrain vehicles to access certain businesses without obtaining a permit, with exceptions for two additional connectors during the Ride and Rally on Sept. 18–20, 2026. The plan was developed in coordination with the ATV Club and the Chamber of Commerce.
Chuck Hanisch, identified in the meeting as an ATV club member, described signage and mapping plans: "right now our snowmobile trails that go through town there are orange signs for snowmobile and they will have yellow signs for ATV that look like this ... that will guide them where to go and then we will have markers ... showing the trail that they’re on so the people will know." Councilmembers discussed permanent versus temporary status for two connectors (north of 34 on Helten Avenue and south of 34 on Fair Avenue) and confirmed the two would be exceptions only for the 2026 Ride and Rally weekend. Council approved Resolution #2025-175 unanimously.
