City officials said new FAA funding will support an update to the Park Rapids Municipal Airport master plan, and the council approved a State Airport Fund grant agreement with the Minnesota Department of Transportation on Oct. 28 to accept that assistance.
"This is for the master plan update so that we can work on a runway design and the taxi lanes and future taxi lanes," City Administrator Angel Weasner said during the meeting. The council later authorized execution of a TKDA engineering services contract estimated at $169,000; Weasner said the city expects to be reimbursed for about 90% of that cost. Both actions were approved unanimously.
