Traffic-calming report recommends speed radars, education and possible golf-cart rules

District Engineer Charlie Krebs reviewed the draft Traffic Calming Assessment 2025 and described Tier 1 and Tier 2 strategies to reduce speeding and improve safety. Staff member Conway has begun education-based road, bicycle and golf-cart safety measures. Krebs told the Board three permanent and one mobile speed radar signs would be delivered across the property during the first week of February; he reported that speeding violations have decreased since initial measures were implemented.
Board members discussed signage and enforcement. Eric Long asked Krebs to update Page 9 of the report to include the Traffic Study conclusion, and members discussed informing residents of existing mandates and potential placement of 'Do not pass golf cart' signage at the front entrance and crosswalks. Pelican Sound leadership is considering modifying traffic violation terms in its bylaws, and staff suggested Safety Saturday events and resident education to address pedestrian and bicycle safety.
