River Ridge files NPDES Cycle 4 Year 7 annual report; permit changes expected next season

Johnson Engineering reported the Lee County NPDES Permit FLS000035-004 Cycle 4 Year 7 Annual Report was reviewed by Lee County and will be submitted to FDEP before the Nov. 1, 2024 deadline; staff were instructed to continue monitoring requirements as a new permit is anticipated.
Johnson Engineering presented the Lee County NPDES Permit FLS000035-004 Cycle 4 Year 7 Annual Report and said Lee County reviewed and approved the report; it will be submitted to the Florida Department of Environmental Protection in advance of the Nov. 1, 2024 filing deadline. A new permit is anticipated in the coming months but no issuance date was given, and staff were instructed to continue operations into Year 8 until further guidance arrives.
The Board and staff discussed possible future changes to water sampling requirements and noted that stormwater ponds are expected to capture and retain runoff and are not held to the same standards as natural lakes under current guidance. Johnson Engineering attends bi-monthly Lee County NPDES meetings and will forward minutes to the District Manager.
