Council approves $18,800 agreement for city-hall generator design

City Administrator Coker said the city has been pursuing FEMA grant funding for a city-hall generator for about three years but wants design documents prepared now so the project can be bid whether a grant is obtained or not. "We've applied for multiple grants through FEMA. We continue to get conversations with FEMA and it seems actually we are making progress on that front," Coker said, adding that the city budgeted money for generator installation and needs design documents to move forward. Council approved the agreement with IMEG for $18,800 to complete the design work.
The approval positions the city to submit grant materials if FEMA funding materializes or to proceed with bidding and construction using local funds. Staff did not announce a construction timeline; next steps are completion of design documents and then procurement.
