Staff said the county must adopt local ordinance changes to implement two recently passed state bills: House Bill 614 (which prohibits fireworks within 200 yards of an equine facility) would be added to the county's noise ordinance and take effect after a June 17 public hearing; House Bill 755 authorizes counties to raise the hotel-motel excise tax up to 8%, and the board scheduled a public hearing on June 17 for a proposed increase from 6% to 8% with state-law-specific allocation rules spelled out in the FY26 budget.
