The Industrial Development Authority of Tazewell County voted June 10 to advertise for construction bids for Project Ponderosa after returning from executive session.
The action, moved by Vice Chairman Darrell Addison and seconded by Mrs. Melanie Protti-Lawrence, passed 6–0. The motion directs staff to advertise a construction contract with the intent that engineers certify the design complies with the Bluestone Construction Covenants. The board adopted the required executive-session certification under Virginia Code §2.2-3711 before taking the vote.
The bid authorization is a procedural step that allows the Authority to solicit competitive proposals; the motion does not itself award any contract. Next steps identified by board action include public solicitation of bids and engineer certification of final design compliance before construction contracts are executed.
