Council business included notice that WEB Water will increase the wholesale charge to Leola effective Oct. 1 by $0.24 per 1,000 gallons. The council intends to pass the increase through to customers.
Under the new rate structure published in the meeting record, the base water rate (minimum of 1,000 gallons) will be $35.57. After the first 1,000 gallons, water will be prorated at $0.00657 per gallon. The increase was recorded for implementation on Oct. 1 so that customer billing can be adjusted.
No vote or ordinance was recorded on the rate itself at the Aug. 8 meeting; the entry appears as a staff/utility notice to the council for implementation and customer notification.
