MPO staff outline next steps for Lawrence Safe Routes to School plan update

MPO staff gave the policy board an update on the Lawrence Safe Routes to School plan. Jessica said staff completed parent and caregiver travel tallies and site visits to many schools before summer break, posted draft routes and school reports on the project website and will resume engagement with PTAs and site councils in August. "We have posted draft routes ... and on the website link we've provided there, if you wanna click on that, there's school reports for every school from what we heard," she said.
Staff said the materials include summaries of what parents reported about students walking and biking to school; staff will close the feedback loop with participating groups. No formal action was taken; staff will bring refined drafts back to the steering committee and then to the MPO and city advisory bodies as part of adoption steps.
