Checks and Balances group warns it may file state complaint after document review

Representatives of the Checks and Balances group told the commission they have submitted a letter requesting expense records related to the Rock the Hills concert and a vintage baseball game. Pam Millard said the group picked up documents from City Hall and will review them at a meeting on July 21 at the Rod and Gun Club to create a spreadsheet and verify the records.
Millard warned that "If they do not receive a denial letter, they will be reporting these things to the state of South Dakota and will be filing a complaint against the city for not complying with the claims the citizens have asked for." The group said it will decide whether to pursue the matter itself or obtain legal counsel depending on the results of its review.
