The Springfield City Council approved the sale of multiple city parcels to the Wayfinders subsidiary Springfield City of Homes Development LLC as part of a neighborhood stabilization RFP process.
Housing director Jerry McCafferty told the council the parcels will be developed into affordable single‑family homes targeted at households up to 100% of area median income (AMI). McCafferty said four parcels were awarded to Wayfinders from a 2023 RFP and that the sale prices were set below assessed value to leverage state funding. "The parcels are being sold for a total of $7,249.72 which is considerably less than the assessed value," McCafferty said, adding the city intentionally sells below assessed value to support affordable development and access state funds.
Councilors had no substantive questions and approved the sales by roll call. McCafferty also explained separate market‑rate sales to Naylor Nation Real Estate LLC for other parcels in the same RFP process.
Next steps: Wayfinders and project representatives are available for follow‑up questions; the city will proceed with conveyances under council direction.
