Board approves MOU to expand practicum placements with Southeastern Community College

The board approved an MOU allowing Southeastern Community College to place practicum and field-experience students in district classrooms and to use classroom meeting space on a scheduled basis.
Corey Johnson presented a memorandum of understanding that expands placement of practicum and field-experience students from Southeastern Community College (SCC) and allows SCC to use district classroom space by arrangement.
"The SCC MOU is for placement of their practicum students, students, field experience students who are in their education program within our district like we do with many other colleges," Johnson said, noting that SCC is local and the arrangement includes an addendum for classroom meeting space. The board approved the MOU as a "win-win" collaborative arrangement between the district and SCC.
The agreement is intended to expand local training opportunities for prospective teachers and to strengthen the partnership between the district and the nearby college.
