Staff (Rebecca) outlined options to update the city’s check-signing and purchasing rules. The current language is codified in the municipal code and requires two signers; Rebecca recommended removing the detailed signer language from the code and instead adopting a purchasing policy by resolution so it can be updated more easily.
Council generally agreed the change would be appropriate and directed staff to prepare an ordinance removing the provision from the code and returning with a resolution that would define authorized signers and thresholds. Rebecca said she would prepare the ordinance and proposed resolution and return to council for initial reading and adoption steps.
