During the public comment period, Jean Yocotoby, who identified herself as a Main Street resident, told the panel, “You have to remember Rogelio sign was not historic,” and questioned whether the proposed design truly matched the district’s older signs.
Commissioners discussed whether existing sign rules and historic‑district guidance provide clear standards. Commissioner Mandy Elder said, “If the historical review board says it's okay, I'm good with it.” Commissioner Michelle Burke argued the city should adopt clearer historic-standards language so applicants and reviewers know what qualifies as historic.
Commissioner Zelda moved to approve the signage; the measure passed by roll call, with Michelle Burke voting no and the four other commissioners voting yes. The commission’s approval sends the permit on to city council for final action.
