Fire Chief Pam presented the Isleton Fire Department’s operations report for 2024 during the council’s Jan. 7 meeting, saying the department answered 253 calls for service and provided mutual aid to neighboring districts.
Chief Pam described a coordinated response with the county Office of Emergency Services and the Red Cross during a recent Sherman Island levee erosion concern; the county activated its emergency operations center and asked local agencies to prepare sheltering sites for roughly 250 residents. She told council that Caltrans notified the city it will close the local bridge five times in 2025 and that Isleton’s department will staff one side of the bridge and be reimbursed by Caltrans for coverage.
The chief also described a surprise inspection at a construction site that identified safety hazards and debris that could have impeded emergency access, thanked Public Works for recent storm cleanup, and outlined recruitment, equipment priorities, and community CPR and rescue‑boat training plans for 2025.
