Isleton pursues water/sewer grant as consultants warn previous work and paperwork are incomplete

Council discussed an active water and environmental grant opportunity during the Jan. 7 meeting and agreed that passing a conditional budget was necessary to remain eligible.
A council member described outreach from a congressional office and estimated the grant opportunity could be “anywhere from $350,000 to 2,600,000,” but warned the city has not yet met technical criteria. Staff found portions of prior consultant work (Bennett Engineering reports) but could not locate grant application files and noted some engineering quotes dated from the pre‑COVID period may need updating. The council approved direction to reissue the Jump Start RFP and to assemble existing engineering material to strengthen the application.
City staff reported $307,000 of SACOG funding remains available to address ADA crosswalks and intersections, and council asked staff and consultants to pursue all possible funding while clarifying documentation for each grant opportunity.
