Grants manager: MERP work includes ADA walkthrough, historic-preservation input and possible brick study

Maryann Caron, grants manager, updated the board on MERP-related planning. She said an ADA compliance walkthrough was completed by CX and used to refine RFP language; members of the Historic Preservation Committee (Doug Wells and Greg Silinsky) inspected the Town Hall and provided specific language to include in the RFP for preservation sign-off. Caron raised a possible separate study on exterior brick degradation and asked whether the board wanted to perform that study now or defer and risk future problems.
Caron reported the current MERP recommendation is to install programmable heat pumps in both buildings and noted that "the furnace in the Town Office should be replaced with a hybrid central boiler," which would require an amendment to the MERP contract. McPhetres said he would like to pursue that amendment and John O’Brien asked for more information about the brick study. Caron also noted the MERP extension cannot be applied for until fall 2026 because the extension deadline is December of 2026.
