Francis described them as 'not a total audit, but they would be free.' Council members asked about liability if the trained auditor left, and the committee agreed to return with more information. Grace Williams highlighted rising energy consumption and urged the city to emphasize electrification when the city updates purchasing policies, asking, 'Is there an electrical option?'
Other committee members discussed exploring a local non-idle ordinance (citing Burlington's seasonal example) and studying municipal solar arrays as a longer-term (about 10-year) project that might involve regional partners or rooftop installations to conserve land. Council members encouraged additional research and regional outreach before formal council approval.
