New Studio Crossings rental units come online; authority sees high interest but qualification and vacancy challenges

"So it's a 124 total units, 25 of them on their market rate," the agency official reported.
Officials said vacancy is driven in part by the time it takes to turn units (cleaning, repairs) and by stricter federal qualification and documentation requirements that can exclude otherwise eligible households. The agency official said some properties with deep subsidies still show vacancies because of these administrative burdens and suggested refining intake and outreach processes to reduce vacancy time.
Members encouraged additional outreach and tours and flagged the need to track actual move‑in dates versus interest lists so planners can better predict absorption and future production needs.
