Council passes first reading of ordinance to regulate electronic signs in residential zones

The council passed Ordinance 760 on first reading to amend the municipal code for electronic signs in residential zones. Council members discussed the ordinance's language (one council member recommended replacing conditional phrasing "may be prohibited" with the more direct "are prohibited" for clarity), and staff said the ordinance would initially address R-1 areas with additional zones to follow. "Whereas electronic signs not specifically addressed in the current Glenrock Municipal Code, whereas the governing body felt it was specifically designed and laid out rules regarding electronic signs in R 1 and R 2 zones," the mayor read from the ordinance; the motion to pass on first reading carried.
