Mayor reports three fires in Millcreek overnight, praises first responders and highlights summer events

Mayor Cheri Jackson told the council that three separate fires occurred in or affecting Millcreek within a single evening and early morning, including a fire near Parley's Nature Preserve, a residential fire on Gregson Avenue that destroyed a duplex and displaced families, and another near 3900 South and 300 East. She thanked first responders for containing the Gregson Avenue duplex fire and preventing further damage.
Jackson reminded residents to exercise caution during dry conditions and highlighted community events: successful Fourth of July celebrations, the return of the Friday evening Sound Bites concert series and Farmers Market through October, and installation of a permanent shade structure near the Millcreek Common splash pad.
