The Town of Woodstock Zoning Board of Appeals approved an area variance to allow construction of a 12‑by‑21‑foot detached carport at the address announced as 6 Chester's Place (CBA case 2607), after board members reduced the requested side‑yard encroachment.
Chair read the resolution describing variances including a 36‑foot infringement into a required 50‑foot front yard setback and an originally requested 24–25‑foot side‑yard infringement. A board member said she was uncomfortable granting a full 25‑foot side‑yard variance because that would place the structure on the property line, and the board reduced the encroachment to 23 feet to provide a small buffer. “That means that this structure would go right on the property line, and that to me does not seem fair to the neighbor,” the Chair said.
Another member praised the adjustment: “That's excellent. I love your adjustment to that.” The board announced the vote and recorded the result as adopted with three in favor, zero opposed and three absent. The board then closed CBA case 2607.
