The Summit County Heritage & Landmark Commission approved a two-year strategic plan that sets three high-level priorities: (1) update and improve county code and policies related to the commission and historic preservation; (2) improve and protect the vitality of the Summit County History Museum; and (3) enhance community outreach, education, and engagement on historic preservation.
Chair Jocelyn summarized the priorities and recalled that the plan grew out of a recent in-person retreat. A commissioner thanked staff and volunteers for pulling the draft together and said the clear roadmap will help guide future work. The commission voted to approve the draft strategic plan by voice vote; staff will finalize the plan off the draft watermark and continue to attach it to future board packets so new members can review it.
Commissioners noted the plan’s role in steering upcoming work and flagged the need to keep the document updated as membership changes. The commission’s approval is a policy-level endorsement; implementation will be incorporated into future agenda items and staff work plans.
