Colonel Ed Gritzmacher and General Frank Grass presented ESGR awards to the St. Charles County Police Department on July 27, recognizing supervisors and departments that support reservists and Guard members. The Patriot Award was presented in recognition of the department's support of a reservist officer's deployments and training.
General Grass emphasized the role of employers in sustaining the reserve components and asked the county executive to sign a statement of support to be displayed publicly. "It's really about 0.3 of 1% of our population in uniform today," Grass said, underscoring the tiny share of the population serving and the importance of employer support. County leaders thanked the presenters and police leadership for accommodating reservist duties.
