County surveyor updates board on Anse 215 phase 2, GDI balance at $377,212

Before the Wolf Number 370 hearing, Noble County surveyor Randolph A. Sexton updated the board on ongoing projects and county finances.
Sexton reported a General Drain Improvement (GDI) fund balance of $377,212.27 and said crews were contending with unexpectedly poor soils in phase 2 of the Anse 215 reconstruction between Grace Road and Beacon Road. Sexton described encountering deep, thick, blue-clay-like material that required bringing in an additional excavator and using multiple machines to get tile installed and backfilled. He warned of a two-day closure planned on Beacon Road while equipment passes through the right-of-way and reminded the board that the project needs completion by Sept. 25 in order to be certified for next year’s assessments.
Sexton also listed other current drainage projects in the county and observed that while reconstruction and maintenance are funded differently, limited periodic maintenance funds often require the county to use GDI seed money for larger replacements.
The update set the stage for the later hearing on Wolf Number 370 and provided context for how reconstruction work is scheduled, funded and executed by county crews and contractors.
