Noble County commissioners approve UDO wording changes removing work-unit language from accessory dwelling rules

The Noble County commissioners voted to approve minor edits to the county's unified development ordinance (UDO) to clarify accessory dwelling unit language and correct references in several articles. A staff member told the board the Planning Commission had reviewed the revisions and had no corrections.
A county commissioner who moved the measure said, "We approve the changes presented today, 07/27/2026, to the plan and with regards to changes to the UDO presented by the plan commission." A second commissioner seconded the motion and the board voted in favor. The changes the staff described removed an earlier reference to "work units" and cleaned up language in articles identified during the review.
The staff report said the edits were largely technical and were made to align the ordinance language with a recent state house bill; the staff noted the county will likely need to submit an end-of-year report related to that bill but did not yet have clarity on which office would file it. Commissioners raised no objections and the motion passed by voice vote.
