Residents warn septage haulers will travel farther as treatment plant limits take effect

Town Manager Dan Monks responded that the town has sent notices to septage haulers and that the plant will stop receiving septage in mid-August because new state PFAS limitations on sludge will materially raise treatment costs. He said if the town can persuade the State to adopt a less expensive sludge treatment option the town could resume acceptance, but the town cannot pass significant new costs onto ratepayers without broader state action.
