URA approves consent calendar; staff reports on finances, tax increment and sewer progress

The Jerome Urban Renewal Agency voted unanimously to approve the consent calendar, which included approval of the Dec. 4, 2025 minutes, January 2026 claims (including Elam & Burke, Inc. for $2,860.00 and US Bank for $195,325.00), and staff financial reports for December 2025. Commissioner Jason Peterson moved to approve and Commissioner B.J. Hess seconded; the motion passed with Chairman Kathy Cone, Commissioner Peterson and Commissioner Hess voting aye.
Accounting and Budget Manager Lori McCrae summarized 2025 cash balances and said two areas showed negative balances because of anticipated bond payments. Mr. Williams said the second-half tax-increment payment is expected in February and that Area 5 funds should be sufficient to pay off the reimbursement agreement with Activus Nutrition (formerly Milk Specialties Global). He also reported that contractors are making progress on the gravity sewer line from Jerome Cheese to the H Street lift station and that city funds may not be needed to complete the work; reserves may still be required for the downtown Lincoln project.
