URA to explore development options for Blocks 55/56 near CSI; stockyard subdivision plat under review

Staff reported the final plat for the stockyard subdivision has been received and will likely go to public hearing in February or March. The Agency will discuss the second phase of Blocks 55/56 (behind the new College of Southern Idaho building) and options such as multi-family residential; the property is city-owned and the Agency may act as development agent.
City Administrator Mike Williams told the board the final plat for the stockyard subdivision has been received and staff is reviewing it; public hearings are likely in February or March. The board agreed to consider the second phase of Blocks 55/56, ground behind the new College of Southern Idaho (CSI) building, and to explore options including multi-family residential and other potential uses.
Mr. Williams reminded the board that the property is owned by the City and that the Urban Renewal Agency has authority to act as the City’s agent for development on that parcel. He said movement on that property could help generate interest in the Main/Lincoln site as well.
