Select Board revokes LaSante's liquor and entertainment licenses after owner loses right to occupy premises

The Select Board revoked the all‑alcohol on‑premises license, entertainment license and common victualer license issued to LaSante (licensed at 386 Middlesex Road) after town staff reported the licensee no longer had the right to occupy the premises and failed to notify the town; the motion carried unanimously.
Administration told the board it had received correspondence from the property owner of 386 Middlesex Road confirming that LaSante no longer has the right to occupy the space where it is licensed and that the licensee ceased operating without communicating with the town. Sean Walsh explained the town sent certified mail and email with no substantive response from the licensee and that the licensee appears to owe lease obligations to the property owner.
"Given the failure of the licensee to notify the Select Board of its intention not to operate the license and its lack of right to operate where licensed, tonight I’m recommending the Select Board revoke the liquor license along with the entertainment and common victualer license issued to the licensee at this location," Walsh said. The board moved to revoke the licenses; the motion passed '4 0 0.' The town manager noted the revocation does not preclude a future new license at the location if a new licensee meets state requirements and there is no asset transfer that would require tax clearances.
