Committee hears RS32845, a clean-up extending confidentiality protections related to executions

Chair Bruce Scogg described RS32845 as a cleanup bill extending protections from discovery for persons and entities that carry out the death penalty by lethal injection or firing squad. "This legislation will extend the legal protections from discovery of certain persons and entities to carry out the death penalty by lethal injection and or firing squad," he said, and noted the committee previously set a primary execution method effective 07/01/2026.
Ted Hill moved to introduce RS32845 and the committee approved the motion by voice vote. The chair said the department would provide further explanation should the RS be printed, and the committee concluded its business for the day.
