The Tulsa Metropolitan Area Planning Commission on June 18 recommended approval of Z-7818, a request to rezone multiple parcels south and east of the southeast corner of West 39th Street South and South Tacoma Avenue from RS‑3 (residential) to IL (light industrial).
Planning staff told the commission the site is designated Employment in the Comprehensive Plan and is surrounded on three sides by existing IL zoned properties, and that IL is the lowest-intensity industrial district designed to contain industrial activities within enclosed buildings. Staff recommended approval of the rezoning. “The proposed IL zoning aligns with the land use designation of employment,” staff said in the presentation to the commission.
The applicant indicated agreement with the staff recommendation. There were no members of the public who spoke on the item. Commissioner Humphrey moved to recommend approval and Turner‑Addison seconded; the motion passed unanimously, 8‑0.
Action: The commission’s recommendation will be forwarded to the City Council for final action. No specific construction or site plan was presented at the hearing; future development will be subject to site- and building-permit reviews and applicable environmental and design regulations.
