Committee to review RS33011 to correct fingerprinting language for vulnerable-population vetting

Representative Bahanka (introduced by the chair) told the panel that RS33011 is a clarification of language passed last session concerning fingerprinting for vulnerable populations. He said the change responds to guidance from the FBI criminal-justice information unit and is intended to allow non–criminal-justice entities (for example, youth groups and similar organizations) to continue submitting fingerprints to vet employees and volunteers who work with children, the elderly and people with disabilities.
"This was done for vetting employees or volunteers through the Federal crime protection act, volunteers children act," the presenter said while explaining why the language needs correction. Representative Alfieri moved to introduce the RS for printing; the motion carried by voice vote with no recorded opposition.
