Senator James Ruckdy (District 29) described RS 33,058 as a lengthy reorganization of uniform probate-related code that has been through multiple print hearings and stakeholder outreach. He said the RS reorganizes code, adds some constitutional protections, and streamlines procedures for guardianships and conservatorships, and that the committee has heard from interested groups over two prior print hearings.
"This will reorganize the code. It provides some additional constitutional protections. It adds some ways of providing people the protections of guardianships and conservatorships, streamlines some processes," Ruckdy told the committee and said he would bring experts to the hearing to answer questions.
Senator Foreman moved and Senator Wintrow seconded that RS 33,058 be sent to print; the motion carried by voice vote and the RS will be printed for further consideration.
