A staff presenter and members of the district’s health advisory committee told the Academic Committee that ancillary materials accompanying the district’s adopted reproductive-health textbook were reviewed and found to be aligned with state standards and regulatory practice. "They are aligned to the state standards and aligned to the practice of regulation," the staff member reported.
The committee was told the ancillary materials — PowerPoints, worksheets and handouts for middle- and high-school lessons — were reviewed lesson-by-lesson by the advisory group. The presenter said there were no substantive adaptations or modifications required; a narrative of the advisory review will be included in board materials to document compliance with state requirements.
Committee members asked questions about updates to dated charts and were told staff would provide the advisory findings and supporting documents in draft in the board packet for review. No action was required at the committee level beyond sharing the review with the full board.
