Several participants pushed for stronger historical context in the town plan and for images that better reflect Bakersfield’s heritage. One member suggested restoring a sentence from the earlier plan about a widow’s sister purchasing land for an academy; planner (S3) said they could reinsert that sentence if the group wanted it returned to the history section.
Attendees recommended adding photographs of Brigham Academy and the Methodist house and said the historical society is a prominent local feature that should be illustrated. The group also discussed including a link or an appendix listing town buildings on the state and national historic registers so residents can see which structures are formally recognized.
