The select board agreed to provide a letter of support for the HF Brigham Free Library's application to the Department of Libraries Public Facilities Preservation Initiative after the town’s regional planner (Speaker 15) outlined the grant's purpose and eligibility. The planner said the program funds maintenance, repair or improvement of existing public library buildings and that municipal libraries require a select board letter to make the application valid: “The thing that I really need to ask you for tonight is a letter of support for the project.”
Board members moved and seconded a motion to support drafting the letter; the motion passed by voice vote with ayes recorded. Staff and trustees will finalize project scope and verbiage for the letter. The planner also discussed other funding options (T‑Mobile hometown grant, Vermont Arts Council cultural facilities grants) and clarified match rules, including that some state funds cannot be used as match for others.
