County economic development group briefs board on Franklin Foods, Perrigo and local job risks

FCIDC (Speaker 6) said the site purchaser of Franklin Foods is working on a business plan and that short‑term preservation of some jobs (an estimate of about five initial positions in a restart scenario) could be possible if capital and equipment needs are addressed. The speaker said longer‑term employment would depend on the buyer’s plan and available capital.
FCIDC and regional partners also reported that Perrigo's reorganization and planned investments in another plant have been in flux; those changes could delay a closure and alter regional employment outcomes. The county representative said regional partners are pulling together leads and possible sources of working capital and offered to help the town and local workers with technical support and coordination.
