Town officials said the select board signed a one‑year agreement with the Climb Group to keep Brigham Academy off the market while the developer finalizes plans and raises funds to renovate the building for housing. Select board members said the town did not intend to own the building and that the agreement provides the developer time to assemble financing, design and remediation plans.
Representatives from the Franklin County Industrial Development Corporation (FCIDC) offered to assist with engineering estimates, brownfield assessments and grant support to help the project proceed. FCIDC's representative, Tim Smith (Speaker 6), told the board the agency can help offset engineering or brownfield costs and coordinate regional planning resources while developer Jason Savoy and Jeff Patterson finalize plans.
